Summary After eight months of use, my original printed bearing D6 filament spool holder's internal shaft snapped, prompting me to create a significant upgrade. Upon reflection, the bearings didn't significantly enhance performance and complicated the printing process. My new design eliminates this drawback. The body is designed to provide a smooth surface for the interior of the spool, resulting in seamless performance. Additionally, I increased space for a much larger and stronger central shaft to improve print stability in a horizontal direction. This upgrade yields a more robust structure compared to my previous spool holder. A screw-on cap replaces the simple pin used in the earlier version, significantly simplifying filament changes. Overall, I'm thrilled with the outcome of this project. Print Settings Printer Brand: Wanhao Printer: Duplicator 6 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .2mm Infill: 20% Notes: A print setting of 20% infill with three 3.4mm perimeters offers ample strength, rendering additional infill unnecessary. Virtually any stiff filament (PLA, ABS, PETG, Nylon, etc.) can be used without issue. How I Designed This I created the design and model using Sketchup Make, then printed it using Slic3r Prusa edition.
