I was constantly concerned about how scorching the extruder motor, front plate and drive block get during the printing process (especially at 260C printing temperature), so I designed this clever contraption to improve the situation. You will require the plate, standard 40mm fan and 2 screws long enough to hold the sandwich together in one piece =). The fan is connected in parallel with the cold end fan. The construction does not restrict the printing area in any way, even with a top cover installed, but the tolerances are tight, so it may vary on custom covers or D6+ versions (unlikely). I will not say it's night and day in printing quality or anything, but I feel better just knowing it's there =). Though "finger tests" show air is indeed moving nicely over hot parts (though it's the same pretty hot air from inside the printing chamber). The photos are of mk1 version, the later mk2 features higher side ducts for enhanced airflow.
