Wanhao Di3 Cobra Fan Blower->40mm Adapter
thingiverse
I've been using the Cobra Fan (v39 @ http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1090433) for quite some time now and it has been a great duct option. My main complaint has always been the subpar 50mm blower that mounts on the back, which I never liked due to its excessive length and loud noise level. Furthermore, when the fan would go bad, I would experience unpleasant vibrations and sounds. This was unacceptable, so I decided it was time for a change. Rather than designing an entirely new duct, I chose to create an adapter instead. The original CAD model is available in Onshape if you want to make any modifications: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/3d8fc1efb90057f0274f856b/w/1e0379e855853abf1d09aa97/e/755a963c4f30e4a74b1d0b1c. I use the 4020 fans, available at http://amzn.to/2fRd7Vk, which are 20mm thick compared to the standard 10mm and blow nearly three times as much air as any 50mm blower fan and almost four times that of the standard 10mm fan. Moreover, their pressure rating is triple that of standard fans, resulting in less backflow or turbulence and more airflow on your parts. I am confident that using this setup will significantly reduce my PLA fan percentage, but I haven't had a chance to experiment with it yet. Printer Settings: Printer: Wanhao Di3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution:.2, .3 Infill: 40% Notes: Print as shown in the pictures, with the flat part of the duct on the bed. There is a 45-degree arm that helps support the mounting arm during print and also stabilizes the duct with just one screw.
