Most of the standard spool holders failed to allow the spool to rotate smoothly, so I crafted an adapter to mount an 8mm rod in order to utilize my custom spool holder and 8mm rod clamps. Custom Spool Holder - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2979110 8mm Rod Clamps - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2929576 You will need the following items: - Two custom spool holders - Two 8mm washers (refer to the description of the spool holders) - Two 8mm rod clamps - One 8mm rod (a length of approximately 200mm is suitable) - A spool of filament Installation instructions: 1. Install the adapter so that the 8mm hole faces upwards. 2. Insert the 8mm rod, taking care to ensure a small portion protrudes beyond the adapter if it's threaded. 3. Secure an outside clamp in place. 4. Place a washer on the rod from the left side and push it firmly against the adapter. 5. Attach a custom spool holder to the rod from the left side, pushing it all the way in against the washer and adapter. 6. Place the spool onto the rod. 7. Install the second spool holder onto the rod. 8. Position the second washer on the rod, pressing it firmly against the second spool holder. 9. Secure a second rod clamp to the rod and ensure everything is pushed tightly against the innermost spool holder. This setup rotates smoothly and is relatively simple to remove and reattach the spool.
