Wanhao D7 Top Cover Mod
thingiverse
Here are a few parts you'll need to print that will convert your D7's horrible top cover into a front opening swing door. This conversion requires drilling and tapping of the top plate of the printer, as well as drilling a few more holes in the front and rear top covers, so it's not for the faint of heart. Note that doing this modification WILL invalidate your warranty. The six screws that hold down the rear of the ring to the top plate are M4x12. The front six are M3x12 countersunk. My M3 countersunk screws haven't arrived yet, so I've used cap head screws on the ring and to mount the guides/light seals. The mounts on the bottom ring for the rear cover have built-in nut traps for M3 nuts. The two top halves are held together by M4x20 capscrews at the hinge, and the front and rear covers are mounted to the top covers with M3x8 capscrews.
