Spool holder with off switch makes it easy to avoid climbing over the printer when it's mounted against a wall, saving space and simplifying maintenance. The spool holder has been tested on bowden setups but should also work for direct drives. When printing with supports, be sure to position them where their threads will be easily blocked. To make initial installation easier, apply a few drops of motor oil to the first screw thread - it works fine, though my pet-g didn't want to budge. I use the button 3.1 x 2.5 cm (available at Aliexpress) connected in series with the standard printer switch. The wire can be neatly routed through the far right corner of the printer for a tidy setup.
