Wanhao D6/ Monoprice Ultimate Enclosure
thingiverse
I've created 3D laser cut files for the Wanhao D6 and Monprice Ultimate. I've since returned the printer due to issues with the machine, but I still have the files and measurements. IMPORTANT READ: - These files were designed using measurements and verified by printing certain parts to ensure accuracy. They have never been printed full-size or laser-cut, so it's unclear how accurate they are (although I'm quite confident in their precision). My recommendation is to print cut part of the files with a 3mm height on your printer to check if the part fits. - It's essential to note that the front and side panels lack pre-cut holes for screws. I suggest lining up the side panels and using a scriber to drill the holes. Keep in mind that you should use a tap, preferably, and look up the pre-tap hole sizes before tapping the holes you drilled. If you drill the hole too large, you'll end up with a tap in the acrylic that's too short. This is crucial. The side panels require M5 (16mm) and the front panel requires M4 (16mm). You can also use the pre-tapped holes on the printer if you prefer. - For the front panel, I suggest printing a hinge from Thingiverse and using a scriber to mark the proper locations for the 2 hinges. This part should work well: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1551631. You may need to adjust the distance between the holes and the hole sizes. - I also recommend printing the handle from Thingiverse (choose one you like). This one would work well: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1228617. Either use two-component glue to adhere it to the acrylic or use nuts and bolts to fasten it, depending on your preference. - It's highly recommended that you customize the files for the top part. This is completely individual, as the top part can be as low as possible or have high clearance. You can also change the hole size in the back, depending on how much room you want for cables and filament. - For the top part, I suggest using two-component glue to fuse the panels together. The same applies to the handle on the front panel. Make sure you read the description of the two-component glue to ensure it won't fail under high heat. - Lastly, don't skimp on the quality of the acrylic. I recommend using 3mm acrylic and the most heat-resistant one you can find. It's possible for acrylic to deform under heat, so keep this in mind. I'd love to hear from people who made or adapted this enclosure (either through comments or photos). I'd love to see the enclosures you guys created from these files. Hope you enjoy!
