Wanhao D6 Blower Fan Bracket & Exhaust
thingiverse
If you own a Duplicator 6, you might be aware that the cooling when printing PLA is rather inefficient. This is a simple mod to attach a 50x50x15 blower fan in place of the existing 40mm axial fan. The bracket attaches to the underside of the heatsink using the three existing holes. Remove the existing axial fan and bracket, then attach this new bracket using three M3x8mm bolts without the white spacers. When attached, the bracket will extend forward in a circle. Attach the new nozzle to the blower fan and then attach the 50mm blower fan to the underside of the bracket using two of the existing bolts removed in the earlier step, with the exhaust facing the extruder heat block and nozzle. These bolts do not require a nut and will create their own thread in the bracket holes. Route the cable to the top of the extruder and connect, observing the polarity of the original fan. That's it. Now enjoy the added cooling offered by a blower fan as opposed to the inefficient axial fan. Note: Due to slight variations in the exhaust outlet size on different make blower fans, if you find the exhaust to be slightly too small or too large, simply adjust the scaling in the required axis by a few percent points as needed in your slicing software. Special thanks go out to Martin Cooper for design assistance with the exhaust.
