Wanhao Backplate with USB Power Output
thingiverse
Loved the original design by JonBAL of this fan mount for the control box. It truly was the best fit for my needs right now. I currently run Octopi with the printer, and hated having to also plug in the raspberry pi into an outlet. With his mod, you'll be able to use the control box's power supply to supply 5v to the usb plug to power the Pi. WARNING: I am using a MeanWell 240-12 power supply, a very stable one, I do not suggest this mod with the original power supply. In fact, I suggest you change the original power supply immediately, as they are known to burn out, cause overloads to the board, and fail randomly. Things you'll need: A 12v to 5v step down: Something like this https://www.amazon.com/DROK-Converter-Step-down-Transformer-Stabilizer/dp/B015CD5HLG/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1486064687&sr=8-6&keywords=12v+to+5v+step+down A USB panel mount: Something like this https://www.amazon.com/Cablelera-USB-Panel-Mount-ZCCCDNMF-01/dp/B012C4EZP2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1486064780&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+panel+mount There are many types of the above out there, and you can probably find them on eBay even cheaper. I did. Basically, connect the step down to the power supply, mount the panel to the hole, connect them up, and boom! You got power.
