I'm building a 3D printer from scratch, it's a serious work in progress. I'll eventually post the blender file on github, and I'll do it faster if someone wants to co-design this project. The build has been updated in many ways, but it's still a work in progress. You can see the 3D printer move here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbOPf_2Wtac My goal is to create a 3D printer with: -A serviceable hot end on the front over the support -Annealing capabilities on the build plate -Zone-controlled heated bed, around 900 watts of power -E3D volcano, dual and/or Diamond head options I'm waiting for some deliveries: -12 x 600mm Y and Z guides -brass/graphite bushings -a 500W, 24V PSU with a wide input range -steel-backed GT2 belts Next steps include designing: -A front brace to prevent motor mount torsion -Octoprint display and C2/Pi enclosure -Z axis support for hollow stepper and ball lead screw Fixes to make include: -longer X axis shafts going through the support for more stability So far, I've tested and made it work with: -Closed-loop Nema23 XY axis -Titanium shaft for the X gantry -Rumba -Limit switches The frame is limited by the Atmel processor speed, and there's still much to be done.
