The 3D scan of this tusk was conducted using a Go!Scan 50 at the Mariners' Museum on July 10, 2018. The accession number for this artifact is 2003.024, courtesy of the Mariners' Museum in Newport News, Virginia. According to the catalog description, the polished walrus tusk features an intricately hand-engraved image of a three-masted ship-of-line flying the British flag as it anchors down near a pier. On either side of two groups of six people each, chained together in a line, stands an individual wielding a whip. In the background, a long building and three palm trees are visible on the shore. The Virtual Curation Lab is responsible for scanning this object.
