Surface scan of a Walrus skull on display at the D'Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum at the University of Dundee reveals intricate details of Odobenus rosmarus - the majestic walrus. DUNUC 2143 is the unique identifier for this specimen, which was carefully transported from the Arctic by one of the Dundee whalers in the late 1800s. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, an Artec Eva surface scanner captures a precise digital image of the skull's surface, which is then exported as an obj. and imported into Zbrush for further refinement. The texture of the Walrus skull is accurately captured during the scanning process and converted to Polypaint in Zbrush, allowing artists to fully immerse themselves in the unique topography of this incredible specimen.
