If you have the Omlet chicken fencing, it is designed to be circular and joined back round to itself. The opening is then between the first and lasts posts. However, if you have the fencing set up such that it's point-to-point theres no simple way to fix the opening pole. These adapters allow the pole to clip on to a wall or fence so that it can be opened in the same way, but easily clipped to the wall.
