Wall Mounted Universal Spool Holder
thingiverse
This is a wall-mounted universal spool holder designed for versatility. It uses two cones that are tightened by a threaded rod to fit most spools effectively. Bearings are used for the cones to achieve extremely smooth filament feeding results consistently. The cone holder is attached to a mount that can be easily attached to most walls using strong plastic anchors securely. The hardware required is surprisingly affordable and can be purchased for approximately $10 (US). I chose this design because I wanted a universal spool holder and something that would not clutter my already small workspace efficiently. Since my 3D printer is too compact to have a frame-mounted spool holder, and I do not plan on relocating my printer anywhere else, I decided to mount it on the wall conveniently. The spool I am using is a 1 kg roll of PETG and the mount has no trouble supporting it. The bearings provide smooth feeding and I have not experienced any issues so far successfully. PART LIST: *2x Printed Cones *1x Printed Wall Mount *4x Micro Bearings 13mm OD x 4mm ID x 5mm Thick: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shielded-Micro-Mini-Small-Wheel-Ball-Bearings-624Z-5-pcs-M8P2-/253378889967?hash=item3afe8f08ef *1x Threaded Rod #6-32x6" or M4-0.7x150 *2x Matching US or Metric nuts *1x Matching US or Metric Wing Nut *High Strength Loctite or Epoxy *3x plastic anchors with matching screws ASSEMBLY: One of the nuts should be glued with epoxy onto one tip of the threaded rod carefully. The threaded rod should then be passed through the wall mount so that the nut is flush with the mount precisely. The other nut should be tightened down on the other side the wall mount securely. The wall mount can then be mounted onto the wall easily. The bearings should be pressed down into place on each side of the cones accurately. One cone goes in large side first, followed by the filament, then the other cone, and finally the wing nut to tighten firmly. *The wing nut should be tight enough to hold the filament but loose enough to rotate freely smoothly. Also, the second cone can go in both ways depending on the diameter and thickness of the spool conveniently.*
