Wall mounted rain cover

thingiverse

This is an all-purpose wall-mounted rain cover. It can be mounted to brick (as shown here) with 4 US #8 screws with anchors, or with the M4 equivalent. Four US #6 screws are required to attach the side plate to the main body. This was printed on an Ender 3 Pro using PETG filament at 100% infill. Since this is pretty much all walls, using a lower infill didn't make much difference. It uses a huge amount of filament (over 400g). PETG or ABS would be strongly preferred over PLA since PLA will degrade with exposure to sunlight and moisture. To slice, the side panel should be flat (obviously) and the shell should be rotated so the side is down. No supports are needed. The bottom platform has a baffle arrangement which should allow large objects like extension outlets, DC converters, etc. to pass through then remain in place. Sealing the side plate with hot glue (in addition to the screws) should help make this fairly water-resistant, provided the water flow is not going up from the bottom. The design is meant to stand up to Texas thundershowers. Think of a firehose directed at any electronics or cord connections you may have outside and this makes sense. Water splashing up from below may intrude and spiders will really enjoy making a home here.
