I drew inspiration from all three sources listed, but primarily from bandit-ed's design ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:442460 ). I aimed to create a model that would print flawlessly on my small printer with a 120mm print bed. While the "sources" served as inspiration, I built this design from scratch in Sketchup, incorporating only some measurements from bandit-ed's design. I moved the screw holes closer to the ends for easier access and improved functionality, added thickness to the bottom of the arch for enhanced stiffness and strength, and shortened the arm, as it seemed that the length of bandit-ed's design was not necessary for holding the helmet securely. As I'm still learning Sketchup, I inadvertently missed some bevels in areas where they were easily accessible, and failed to bevel the inner holes. During my strength testing on a previous iteration of this design without counter-sunk screw holes, I discovered that the weakness lies around the screw holes. However, minimal flex is present until significant pressure is applied to the end of the arm. This results in a final object approximately 90mm tall and deep, and 16mm wide.
