Wall Mount Spool Holder

Wall Mount Spool Holder

I couldn't find a spool holder that fit my requirements on Thingiverse so I designed my own with bearings. I used standard skate bearings with a ID of 8mm and OD of 22mm (I froze the bearings to help insert them in the shaft.) This design supports my 1kg and 500g rolls. I downloaded an M8 nut off of Thingiverse although I don't think it is necessary for me but you may need to. I used some wood screws to fix it to the side of my desk just below my extruder motor. I designed it using bearings just to be overkill so there is next to no resistance on the motor although it is a bit unnecessary I originally planned on using 3 bearings like in the assembly drawing however I ended up only using 2 and it works fine. STL's and solidworks files are available for download. I may end up modifying it in the future. Things I would probably change: - add a small chamfer to the shaft to help get it off the build plate - change the shaft design a little so that the bearings can be put on from both sides rather than pushed all the way down inside.
