Wall-mount spool brackets w/reel inserts
thingiverse
Wall-mounted filament spool rods hold up to five spools firmly in place. Users choose 1/2 inch Sched 40 PVC conduit for building the rods. The inserts seamlessly adapt Prototype Supply reels to the 1/2 inch PVC (a remixed version of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:224151 with adjusted inner and outer diameters). A wide width may be excessive, requiring 4+ hours to print on a Printrbot Simple Metal, but results in plenty strong end products. UPDATE: added Sugru to the rod holder cutouts for a more secure fit and to prevent the possibility of rods being spun by one of the reels. The Sugru packets were split into two pieces (one for each side) and molded into thin layers along the entire concave area of the cup. Just enough thickness and grip are added to hold onto the rod while still being easily removable. Print both left and right spool holders first. Users mount them with 1-5/8 inch exterior primeguard screws straight into studs. Cut PVC to size. A length of 16 inches is recommended, as it reduces the load on the PVC and the bracket. This adjustment also reduces the angle at which the filament drops onto the printer.
