Wall-Mount Hoist Switch Enclosure

Wall-Mount Hoist Switch Enclosure

This enclosure mounts a Harbor Freight hoist switch directly onto a wall for more permanent setups where a handheld switch may fall short in functionality. Initially, I attempted to build the mount with three separate parts: a clip, top plate, and base plate. While this almost worked, extensive fiddling made it prone to cracking. Moreover, the switch hole was too small to use without modifying its shape via filing. The overall result fell far short of being satisfactory. Taking lessons from my initial mistake, I refabricated the mount using only two pieces: a revised top plate and base plate. With proper fitting tabs or soldering complete, these two components can be connected with some extra wire slack to accommodate for any minor imprecision. Notably, the switch hole has been optimized to precisely fit the switch, allowing it to slip in seamlessly without requiring excessive adjustments. Another advantage of this redesign is its structural integrity. By creating longer, nested tabs that snugly fit together during assembly, it significantly reduces the likelihood of print warping or detaching from the build plate mid-print cycle. This results in a much sturdier and more reliable final product than my first prototype could offer.
