In the 1930s, English historian Nicholas Hammond from the University of Bristol personally visited the site and observed that "This would be an extremely suitable location for a walled town in south Epirus" (Hammond, 1967, p. 216). Based on his expertise, he determined that this wall was constructed between the 480s - 150s BC when the region was under the rule of the Epirote League and the Chaonians due to the massive blocks used in its construction. An excavation conducted in 2018 indicates that this wall might be newer than initially thought, but could potentially be built using stone blocks from a much earlier wall. This is a low-resolution version of the models employed by the project for archaeological research purposes. Higher resolution versions are available upon request.
