Wall Anchor Experiment

Wall Anchor Experiment

This is a work-in-progress experiment. I hate every drywall anchor I have ever tried, and I have tried a lot of anchors. The thought process is that the bolt (1/4-20 in this case) will draw the wedge into the body of the anchor and expand it. Designed for a 3/8 hole. Various size wedges are in files for the experiment. I am considering several changes including: 1. removing the threads 2. adding a recess for a steel nut 3. adding guide pins to prevent the wedge from rotating in the body if friction is not enough to hold it in place while installing. 4. print with low infill or designed weaknesses so that the anchor and wedge will crush itself in the hole. 5. Make compatible with construction screws, though torque may be a problem when screwing directly into the plastic wedge. I am open to suggestions if you have thoughts. Edit 6/15/2021: Printed threads were impractical at this size, as I thought they would be. a test of a bolt/nut version seems to have promise. I will test and then upload a version of this designed for a #8 nut and bolt. The new version is for a 1/2" hole.
