Walksnail VRX Noctua Fan Mod - 40mm
thingiverse
As you may know , the default fan in the Walksnail VRX gets insanely noisy. This might not be a big issue if you are flying outside, but if you are a whoop pilot the fan noise gets annoying pretty quickly. I modded the front plate of the VRX to house a 40mmx10mm 5V noctua fan and the stock patch antennas. Moreover you can also use a longer screw for the VRX mounting piece to hold the front plate and the backplate together thanks to the added mounting point at the top middle. With this design you can still use the heat spreader that the original fan is sitting on (but remove the stock fan). Noctua fan produces significantly less noise and vibration, while providing much better airflow. Hence the fan doesn't need to rotate faster, making it silent throughout your flights. You will need to print two mount pieces (preferably in TPU) to soft mount the Noctua fan to the front plate. You simply insert the mounting pieces to the fan first, then you insert the fan to the front plate. I printed with TPU, PETG and PLA. With TPU I kept the brim for the adhesion to give it a fancy look :) . PETG also works well. In my testing PLA was too brittle, but it might be the fault of my old PLA spool. I hope this mod gives you more comfort and brings some peace to your walksnail flights (I won't have headaches anymore yippee :D).
