Wakeboard Fin
thingiverse
Wakeboard fin designed to fit my trusty old CWB Sol perfectly. To achieve a better fit, I created a custom fin model in Alibre Design, opting for smaller fins than the originals. The bottom surface of each fin features an arc that mirrors the board's curve. To ensure sturdy fins, I printed them with a raft that breaks away cleanly after printing. Separately, I designed and printed alignment pins, which are stronger when printed vertically due to their reduced shear stress. These pins fit snugly into the fins using a press fit design. A pre-drilled hole for the mounting screw is included, but it requires tapping to accommodate a 1/4-20 thread. For added convenience, I've shared the Alibre Design files with the community, allowing anyone with access to the software to modify or replicate my design. Additionally, I created custom 3D printed thumbscrews as a safeguard against losing the originals in case one of the new fins breaks. My PLA (100% fill) fins have held up remarkably well so far, and I'm confident they'll provide reliable performance for years to come.
