W5AIR Slew Bearing Mark III
thingiverse
This is a simple truly parametric slew gear. When you make a change to the bore size, all the diameters and number of mounting holes adjust. M# size of Inner or Outer mount holes can be changed. Mount hole pockets adjust automatically. I made the Top & Bottom plate thinner, to decrease size and plastic used. Increased clearance between outer diameter of top/bottom plate and outer ring mount holes. With finesse, you can find the right combination to drop this down to M1 screws, tiny ball bearing races, and very small bore hole. Mark III accessories are in design stage. STL files have 30 mm bore and use M5 hardware. Button heads recommended. Next Mark III release will account for thickness of washers used in mount hole pockets. This project came about from multiple issues with printing a more complex slew drive. I decided to start with the most important part of the system: the slew bearing. Then, I designed a platform that would be useful in all kinds of situations where a slew bearing was needed, such as a slew drive. Then, I wanted it to be accessible to people whom had CNC routers, 3D printers, or work with their hands and hand tools. Anybody can make these with will and skill. NEXT STEPS: Parametric Gears, spurs and accessories. External mounting rack with Nema17 mount (all flat parts). Full Housing. Still debating if I want to do a worm screw again.
