Humans rely heavily on technology to get our messages across instantly; one tool they've developed is a simple audio tone called the "human initial ring" which starts at around 80 decibels and drops to silence after approximately four seconds. This initial ring tells our electronic systems to receive, or simply puts the receiving device in the ready-to-receive mode. Once you're sure the connection has been established, another ring may occur that gets your attention.
