---- **ABOUT** This model is a re-creation of the VX Poison Gas canister from the 1996 movie "The Rock" staring Nicolas Cage, Sean Connery and Ed Harris. This is an on-going project that I am continuing to update and improve. I used measurements from photos of the original prop, which photos I sourced through auction sites that listed the original screen used prop. Although this model is far from perfect, there is portions that need improved. Again this will be updated regularly My plans for this project is to first create something screen accurate. Secondly I plan to provide a detailed walkthrough on how to create and source the pearls, wiring and all the materials used for the prop on the movie. ---- **UPDATES** - Latest (V9) **V9 Update - 30/08/2022** Hey folks, I have done some more work to the model. I have tweaked a few things here and there to (hopefully) make it more screen accurate. Sizes should be true to scale. I will leave this model in "Work-In-Progress" status until I get around to printing it to check the quality, unless someone does it before me and lets me know all is well. Over the next few weeks, work will be done in the "Post-Printing" section to allow it to make more sense and also, add a lot of step-by-step instructions and photos! ** What's new in this version? ** - Rounded the edges of the trapezoid towards the centre of the lid. - Made the holes under the lid 8mm in diameter (This is because I am planning to cnc the part and want to leave room to tap threads so a sourced part can screw in nicely. (Sourced parts will be revealed in the post-printing section soon) - Updated the schematic drawings (Take these with a pinch of salt, although the measurements are accurate, I've probably included useless information. - The copper coloured things under the lid are not included with the file. These are rough copies of a sourced item that I was using for reference (Again, the sourced/found items will be revealed in detail in the Post-Printing section soon). - Refined the distance between pillars on the body. - Re-positioned holes under the body and also on the base. - Base centre holes have been made slightly smaller (more screen accurate I hope!). Again any problems in printing, please dont hesitate to leave me a comment or message and I will provide an update/fix ASAP. Also contact me if you require this model in a different format (again I'm CNC'ing these parts so I have exported the model in stl for Thingiverse and .step file format for my own needs) That's all for today, until next time =D -Robin ---- **V8 Update - 12/08/2022** Finally, there is a model that should be the right size! All previous models (If you haven't noticed) was huge! I have reduced the scale and redone a few parts of the model, - Made the pillars longer by 5mm and shrunk the width by a few millimetres. - Made the base and top of the body slightly smaller in height (-5mm) - The main hole in the body has been shrunk to make more screen accurate. - The bottom of the "Lid" has been reduced in size to allow it to fit into the main hole of the body snuggly. - Re-sized the holes for the rods between the Bottom plate and the bottom of the main body. That's all folks. This will be the last major design change unless something crops up. Enjoy! -Robin ---- **V7 Update - 08/08/2022** Once again I have redesigned the model. I used a more advanced application to get the job done this time around. I am overall very happy with the way this design has turned out. There is a few tweaks here and there that will be ironed out in the next update. Enjoy! -Robin ---- **V6 Update - 30/07/2022** This update fixes a few problems I was having with the design. Main Changes: - The 5 pillars on the main body has been made slightly thicker (More accurate to the original) - The groves around the top of the body have been re-cut evenly. - The 5 circular cuts that allow the "pearls" to feed through the body have been made slightly larger and more centred between the two corresponding pillars. - Bottom of cannister has been ever so slightly reduced in size and had the holes re-cut. Overall I am happy with the way this version has turned out. Until next time! -Robin ---- **V5 Update - 27/07/2022** I have done a radical re-design from the previous version. V5 would be the more "Movie Accurate" version of this release. Main Changes: - Aligned the top trapezoids of the lid. - Aligned the staggered groves in the lid (Still not perfect but getting there) - Added curved edges to each pillar - Same as movie used prop. - Curved the pillars. - Centre "nub" on lid made a touch bigger That is all for this release. Again this is a work in progress and I plan to update this file regularly -Robin ---- **V4 Update - 26/07/2022** This version updates the lid and the canister to be somewhat screen accurate. The bottom of the canister has also been added. There is still a lot of work to do with certain alignments and details.
