While I loved the marker holder versions running around, I just didn't have a safe use for it with a curious 3 year old to contend with. We set up a new desk for the older children to do their homework, and voila, my excuse to print the microbus! But, re-imagined for their needs. A little hole for a large glue stick, a pair of scissor holes (think Fiskar large and child sizes), then a pair of surfboards on the roof in which to store everything else. I threw in roof rack dividers to keep things from falling over. The roof can be used with or without the extra surfboard on top. I added it for a little pop of color and to coordinate with the glue stick, but there's already a surfboard molded into the roof without it. One the nose emblems worked perfectly to crown the glue stick cap as well for an added touch. The sleeves fitting into the upper body piece help extend the dividers and their purpose to keep things separated. I included the honu (hawaiian sea turtle) petroglyphs for fun. A reminder from the original thingi, the color stripes are achieved by simply swapping filament 1.2 inches into the print to match the pieces that are separate. I think I got all the modded pieces uploaded, the rest are back at the original file I remixed from. Since the silk gray was working so nicely for the chrome, I also let the lights print with a couple layers of silver before switching to clear/glow in the dark to add a little chrome ring to the lights. I used red sharpee on the tail lights and orange on the front marker lights. E6000 to glue anything that needed it. I don't remember using supports anywhere and managed to print it with a printer needing a new cooling fan. Not a difficult print. Update 6-3-23: Added files from the original post this was remixed from as that posting went missing. There are several similar models running around if you don't like the stripe.
