The bolt needs to be pressed firmly in place using a vise before proceeding. The wider one should function as described below. This is the knob that secures the spare tire on a new beetle. It's likely compatible with models from '98 to '04, as mine is an '04. The knob features a tapered wall preceding the hole for the bolt head, which helps retain the bolt in place. I created this design as a remix of pavel's original knob, as they were the first to share their model online. If I had known that their design was available, I probably would have printed theirs instead. However, I prefer my version because it closely matches the original and is unique to me.
