Use this tool in conjunction with a long screwdriver to safely remove your defective fuel pump without damaging your car or wrist. For detailed instructions, watch the tutorial video at https://streamable.com/w0it2. This tool was specifically designed for my 2002 Golf 4 and worked seamlessly. I have created a rapid prototype version of this tool. Depending on your 3D printer's bed adhesion properties, you may need to add a few millimeters of brim for optimal results.
