VW MK2 Syncro Adapter Plate
thingiverse
This is a version of the adapter plate that allows you to swap the rear beam from other Syncro VW's like Passat and Golf. It has the same offset as the Passat. Version 2 moves 25mm forward for better wheel centering in the well, while version 3 adjusts another 19mm forward. The first print failed due to weak support material on the forward tab, but the surface finish was great otherwise. The design is structurally sound with minor modifications needed to fix a misplaced hole. It's hard to measure some things when they're odd shapes. Print Settings: Printer: FolgerTech Cloner Rafts: Doesn't matter Supports: Yes Infill: 3D Honey Comb Notes: I used Slic3r and Cura with varying results, but the first print failed because of a support material failure on the forward tab. It turned out great otherwise. I'm converting my front wheel drive VW MK2 Golf to all-wheel drive (Syncro). An adapter plate is needed to mount the rear beam that supports the differential and suspension components. I bought an aftermarket set, but it didn't fit because the mounting surface was wrong. After no help from the manufacturer, I decided to fix the problem. I used drafting skills to draw this up and converted them to an object in 123D Design. I'm new to 123D Design, so I'd say 98% of the object matches the original piece's good dimensions. The mounting surface needs tweaking the most, so it's a separate object in my file. Once I'm happy with the placement, fitment, and finish, I'll make aluminum casts for my car. There will be changes to add support structure like gussets where needed.
