I'm transforming my '74 Standard Beetle's dashboard with a metal-to-molded plastic conversion. Rather than welding shut the passenger-side vents, I chose to create new plastic ones that securely snap into place on the dash. These custom vents can be bonded using super glue, but alternatives like e6000 or rubber cement would also work effectively.
