Making this project, I have been inspired by the [Amarok Polar Expedition][1]. There were 3 modified VW Amarok with transmission borrowed from USSR military trucks, and these "upgraded" pickups were looking just awesome! I decided to build something like that, and the hardest part of work was: where to get VW Amarok body from? Thanks to the Internet, I found a few interesting models at the [Sketchup warehouse][2]. The model I decided to start with, was [VW Amarok V6][3] from Studio.MKS. [Maks Liddell][4], thanks for your great job! Without your models this project would not be made. After the original sketchup file was exported as STL and imported into the Blender, I started the preparing model for 3d-printing. It was a lot of things I had to do, because "original" model does have a pretty detalization, but it was consisting generally from the plains, and it was unable to print it on the 3d-printer "as-is". So, after a few weeks of modelling, current body was ready. As you can see, I added "fake" box in the trunk: it allowed me to hide rear shockmounts, and at the same time, at least part of the trunk is still usable. I sliced this body into 8 parts + 2 mirrors and 4 wings. It allowed me to print this model on a small printer (parts are fitable to 200x200 mm table). If somebody wants to make the body parts in a different size, I provided whole the body as well. Cut it as you want! After the printing was completed, I fixed all the parts with glue, bolts and nuts (I used M3 size), then prepared the plastic surface before the painting, and painted it. Mirrors and wings may be glued at he last step, before the painting. Done! One important thing. One time my kid was playing with a car without me, the car was tested at max speed, on the hard track with obstacles. Plastic body versus concrete and iron, haha! The results were: part of the left front wing was broken and lost, right mirror was broken off anf then re-glued again. And the most sad thing: front body mounts damaged the hood and were not able to support the body. However, the body itself still was robust and did not have any serious problems. After that race I had to create extra-strong mounts, and I did it. You can print these mounts using nylon (I did so) and build them into the car hood. it will be better for hard races)) [1]: https://www.wired.com/2014/02/volkswagen-sochi-olympics [2]: http://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com [3]: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/ea951172-1180-43f0-9271-a294f1d8a0bd/Vw-Amarok-V6 [4]: https://www.instagram.com/studio.mks
