This enables the mounting of an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator like the one pictured here: https://www.dansperformanceparts.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/500x500/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/1/2/127011_3.jpg into a Volkswagen Bug without having to add holes to the firewall. The mount position on my 71 is the top left of the engine bay on a T shaped flat spot with three screws. Simply unscrew them and place the mount in its spot and then replace the screws.
