Vulcan Harp (Lute, Lyre or Lyrette) - Full Scale and 1/4 Scale

"Oh ho, that's now. That's real now." For your enjoyment, a full Scale Vulcan Harp (Lyrette). I posted pictures of two versions - Full scale and 1/4 Scale (a little table top version for those more rational). I decided on this build for a friend of mine, fellow fan of the show. I also wanted to give working on a full scale build a try. I pulled out the Starfleet Technical manual for dimensions. Also, referenced with screen shots to see if they were close. This prop appeared four episodes, my favorite in "The Way to Eden" - wherein our hero does an unplugged jamb session with space hippies. So now. In the interests of getting this out, I've managed to print, sand, fill and prime. I'll post pictures of finished make, later on. I paid special attention to fit and finish of the prop itself and fought the urge to make practical improvements, ie. fillets, neck radii, and functional instrument parts. The purpose is to have as accurate a representation of the screen prop and not a working instrument. This is a display model and I am not an instrument maker. I also designed a period appropriate base. As I get to paint and finish. I noticed a few interesting details and differences between published cannon and screen time. The number of strings on the screen model (30) and in printed cannon (19- maybe it was just the illustration). I also noticed event the control box (the wavy thing with the nobs) was made of different materials (in different episodes - polished metal in Charlie X and white enamel in the Way to Eden). Maybe it's the lighting. If you know, please let me know. I'm on the fence as to which I'll decide on. For now, I can tell you, the printing was easy though it took a minute. The parts fit together pretty well, and I did not spend such a crazy time filling joints. CA glue is your friend on this one. Included In thing files are all full scale and 1/4 scale pieces. Print them as is. No need for supports. Please let me know if you have any questions, what you think, post a make, and hit that like button. As always, enjoy and thank you.
