Vulcan 400 xy rotation bracket
thingiverse
I am currently building an expanded Z axis vulcan 400, and it's unfortunate that the 'front' of the printer was obstructed by one side of the Z support. There are two obstacles to rotating the top 90 degrees that this remix addresses. First, the Z-rod top mounts get in the way of the x rods, and the y carriage motor mount hits against the Z carriage. I designed a new mount for the Z rod that attaches to the side of the 3030, providing adequate clearance, and also remixed the Y carriage motor mount to move the stepper 3mm out of the way, giving it enough space. Additionally, you can use a 500 mm rod for the bottom without any issues, which is easier to find compared to the 600 mm rod if you're working with carbon fiber like I am. My top was completely assembled when I turned it, and surprisingly, it was easier than I thought it would be because I haven't done the wiring yet. I loosened the 3030 bolts holding the top pieces together (leaving the brackets attached to the vertical), lifted, and rotated. Before re-attaching, I removed my t-nuts from preassembly and slid new ones into place on the sides of the 3030.
