The VTB Arena, a multifunctional stadium in Moscow, Russia, replaced the former Dynamo Stadium after its demolition in 2008. Plans for the new stadium included a football arena that was part of Russia's bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup opening game; however, the Luzhniki Stadium was chosen for the final. Despite this, VTB Arena was selected as the venue for the EuroLeague Final Four basketball competition in 2019. Although initially slated for completion in 2016, construction delays led to the Otkrytie Arena being completed first in 2014.
