I've played VRChat for over 200 hours in just 10 months, and I have some thoughts to share. On my first day, I realized that to get an avatar, I needed to add friends, so I went through the tutorial world. There, I met many people who became my friends, and the next day, I was able to raise my avatar level. VRChat feels warm and welcoming. I was happy to be able to raise my avatar, but it wasn't a beautiful girl, which made me struggle. That's why I want to tell new players something important: having an avatar that isn't a beautiful girl makes VRChat much harder. Most people who start VRChat have the goal of meeting beautiful girls, wanting to be one themselves, or talking to them. However, it's hard for guys and non-human avatars to get friends because they don't like to talk to them. Even if you have great communication skills or technical abilities, making friends is still difficult. That's why I want all new players who think "I just need to make more friends!" or "I just need to level up!" to try playing as a beautiful girl avatar. I also feel it's hard for me to make friends because I'm a robot with social anxiety. However, even though I didn't become a beautiful girl, I now have over 90 friends. So why did I manage to make so many friends? It was because I found a world that suited me. I'm not good at joining conversations, so I started going to SilentClub where you can dance without talking. There are many great songs to dance to there! Since I love dancing, I felt comfortable and started going to SilentClub regularly. Over time, more people joined in and we danced together, which made it feel like we were friends. I didn't care about making new friends anymore (although I still want to level up!). SilentClub is recommended for VRChat beginners with social anxiety because you can have fun dancing without talking. I also went to the Mahjong world and met some friends there because I love playing Mahjong. It took a lot of time, but I found worlds that suited me and was brave enough to go back many times. Now, I think VRChat is really fun! Even my brother who hasn't played Horror VRChat yet should try this!
