The Tauris Group (also known as Pollux and Castor or Pylades and Orestes), located at The Prado Museum in Madrid. The Tauris Group was discovered in Rome around 1623 AD and eventually made its way to the palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso one hundred years later. This statue features Pollux and Castor, two legendary figures who exemplify a strong bond of friendship, presenting an offering after they returned to Tauris accompanied by an image of Artemis (the statuette on the right). By doing so, they purified Orestes from his divine punishment, freeing him. Artist: Pupil of Pasiteles, around 10 BC (1st century AD), Neo-Attic period. Location: The Prado Museum in Madrid.
