VR Goggles for 7" Tablet
thingiverse
A revolutionary VR goggle setup designed specifically for 7" tablets. Frustrated with the limited screen size on iPhones, I took matters into my own hands and created this innovative solution! Be aware that it takes approximately 10 hours to print, so plan accordingly. For a vast array of free VR apps, download them from Android - perfect for viewing SBS live WiFi video streams from UL drones as part of an affordable FPV drone setup. Currently, there are no pre-drilled mounting holes for head straps, but feel free to add your own solution for now. To achieve optimal results, I recommend using at least 30% fill, although 15% worked for me. The lenses were sourced from dollar store binoculars, while self-adhesive foam strips were used around the face area. For now, thick rubber bands and wooden dowels hold the tablet in place, but this will likely change with future revisions after further testing. To get started, use the Google Cardboard app. Update 12-5-16: I've added some pins to secure the rubber bands, as well as a new lens plate with slightly narrower optics. A tray assembly has also been incorporated, allowing for gluing or screwing it to the bottom and sides of the goggles to provide better support for the tablet. Your mileage may vary - check back for additional updates as I continue to refine this project.
