VOXX Code Alarm CATX1B battery spacer for remote start
thingiverse
When I attempted to replace the batteries, the tiny clips that secure them in place snapped off completely. I exercised greater caution with the second remote control, but the outcome was identical - the clips broke (or were already damaged when I acquired the remotes). Due to the batteries being stacked vertically, simply inserting them caused the bottom battery to make contact, resulting in a short circuit. The cost of purchasing a new unit ranges from $60 to $80, so I decided to fabricate a custom spacer to hold the batteries in their proper position. As mentioned in the subject line, these spacers are designed for VOXX / Code Alarm remotes, specifically the CATX1B model. It's likely that they will also fit pursuit and Panther units, as all three have the same teardrop-shaped battery compartment. Although it's not an ideal solution, this quick fix should suffice until a more permanent repair can be implemented.
