VOXbox V2 Stand (Customizable)
thingiverse
Hi there, This is a support system for the VOXbox V2, a device you may not have heard of. It's made by Reinecker, a German company that treats it as a medical device for people with reading disabilities due to age or blindness. http://www.reineckervision.de/produkte/vorlesesysteme-vox/voxbox-pro/ This device is actually just a special case for a PC with some advanced buttons and a magnetic mounted arm holding a web cam. It's running Linux and using well-known software components for scan to text and text to speak conversion. The design is simple and clean, even a 97-year-old without any computer experience can read newspapers and letters with it. The VOXbox V2 has one serious design flaw - the arm hangs over the scan area and people using the device are nearly blind, so hitting the arm just a little bit tips the entire device over. I didn't check any more recent versions of the device, but a simple stand to flip or pull out on the back would have fixed it. This inspired me to use my new FreeCAD skills to create my own stand. I included the source files, so you can modify and edit them for other models or different devices. Happy printing!
