Project Name: Vowel Blocks Background: • Create a 3D printed toy that's fun to make. • Paint five different figures (apple, elephant, ice cream, octopus, and umbrella) with many colors and have a blast. • Use soft glue to hold the pieces together. • Play while learning and learn while playing. Objectives: Have fun printing, painting, and playing. Learn how to 3D print a figure (dimensions, technology, informatics). Develop craft skills like hand control, self-control, artistic abilities, creativity. Improve math skills, language, and motor skills by playing with colorful blocks and figures. Learn associative skills and build a strong foundation for learning to write. Audiences: Children aged 3-6 years old. Subjects: Art, English. Skills Learned: Associative skills Communication skills Motor skills Artistic skills Creativity Self-control Math skills Lesson/Activity: • Print the five pieces. • Paint them with your favorite colors. • Mix colors to create unique figures. • Cut 12 plastic pieces from a transparent bag (¼ inch x 4 ½ inch). • Attach the plastic pieces to the white plastic base. • Fold the plastic on the front of the vowel block. • Attach the transparent plastic piece below the vowel block. • Repeat the process and wait 30 minutes for it to dry. Now you're ready to have fun! Twist the vowel block on top and enjoy! Print Settings: Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker Original Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 2mm Infill: 15 Notes: I printed it using white ABS, so I needed to use a hot bed. However, this won't be necessary if you're using PLA. How I Designed This: The traditional Mexican game "Tablas Magicas" inspired us to create something new and exciting for kids. We took the idea and turned it into an art project, craft toy, and learning tool.
