Miletus (Turkey); from the division of finds of the Miletus excavation; marble, circa 575 BC The relief depicts a woman with an unusually large head confined within a box-like frame. She is draped in a long chiton and wraps herself in a small jacket-like cloak. Her hair is concealed by a veil adorned with a cap-like element. The fragment belongs to the oldest representations of this Ionic female type found in Miletus.
