The relief takes shape as a naiskos. In its center stands Polydeukion, a youth revered by Herodes Attieus as his prized pupil who met a heroic demise in adolescence. The youth's nudity, paired with the horse and snake he feeds, solidify his status as a hero. A young slave extends his helmet to him. Behind the slave, a grave-mark looms large on a pedestal, accompanied by a loutrophoros.
