Athens, Greece was acquired in 1841, featuring a stunning marble from 350 to 340 BC. In the Classical Age, votive reliefs made of marble became extremely popular as offerings to honor deities and show gratitude for favors granted. Specifically in Athens and Attica, they were placed in sanctuaries to add weight to prayers and express thanks. More than two thousand preserved specimens offer valuable insights into the religious practices of that era.
