Votive relief in the shape of a temple
myminifactory
The mysterious figure behind this relief remains unknown. The sculpture belongs to a well-defined genre known as the funerary banquet type. A heroic recliner is depicted on the right side of the scene, wearing a distinctive polos cap on his head and gripping a rhyton in his hand. His trusted companion sits comfortably on a low stool at his side. In front of them, a beautifully arranged table holds an assortment of food items, with a dog peacefully lying beneath it. The panel on the pillar looming in the background clearly demarcates the sacred area where this scene unfolds. On the left-hand side, a skilled wine-pourer stands attentively next to a large krater vessel, while a family of devoted worshippers approaches from a distance. According to an inscription etched into the relief, these individuals are none other than Andropheles, the dedicator himself, and his three children, for whom this dedication was lovingly made.
