Votive Relief for the Healing Gods Asclepius and Hygieia
myminifactory
Acquired in 1827 from Collection Ingenheim, This Marble Dates Back to 330 - 320 BC. In the Classical Age, votive reliefs made of marble were extremely popular among humans. They were especially favored in Athens and Attica, where people placed them in sanctuaries to honor their deities, add weight to their prayers, and express gratitude for favors granted. Over two thousand preserved specimens provide valuable insights into the religious practices of that era. This artifact is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory. This project aims to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe, available for free access by the public. Scan The World is an open-source community effort. If you have interesting items nearby and would like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can participate.
