Terracotta statues were unearthed in large quantities alongside hundreds of others at a site located south west of the Mausoleum at Halikarnassos. They were discovered intact, carefully stacked according to type. Dating back from approximately 480 BC to 330 BC, these specific statues belong to the 4th century BC time period. A stone inscription found on the premises commemorates a dedication to Demeter and Persephone, and some of the terracotta figures are models typically dedicated to those deities.
