Ancient terracotta figurines were unearthed alongside hundreds more in an undisturbed archaeological site situated southwest of the storied Mausoleum at Halikarnassos. Unearthed from a neatly stacked deposit, these relics range in age from around 480 BC to 330 BC; however, these specific figures hail from the 4th century BC era. A stone inscription unearthed on the premises reveals a dedication to revered goddesses Demeter and Persephone, while some of the terracotta artifacts bear distinct characteristics commonly associated with worshiping those deities.
