Vortex Mixer Extra Wide Top
thingiverse
I decided I wanted a vortex generator to mix my paints without breaking the bank. Luckily, this solution was already available on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3140367. The cone-shaped topper works perfectly for mixing smaller dropper bottles when positioned cap-side down. However, I needed something that could handle craft paints, Tamiya paints, washes, and larger bottles that require quick mixing. I used calipers to measure the dimensions of the stem and built an extra-wide mixer top. I strongly recommend test-fitting this topper to the large coupler in the original files before securing it with jb plastic epoxy. This will help prevent issues with the stem breaking. As a first-time user of a vortex generator, I made a few observations: apply just enough pressure to keep the bottle in contact with the spinning parts - usually light pressure is sufficient. Pressing down too hard creates excessive friction and can even melt the dropper caps. Additionally, only squeeze the bottle as necessary to prevent it from spinning out of control; squeezing too much tends to create downward pressure that's difficult to manage.
